Daycare!

Well here we are on day 3 of daycare. And yes I am writing this before daycare...we leave around 6:40 but the squirt got up 20 minutes earlier than usual so we have some extra time on our hands. The transition to daycare and work is going surprisingly well. I have took peoples advice and just look forward to 2:15 when I get pick her up. I cant seem to get there fast enough! Chris came with the first day to do the drop off and that was VERY helpful or I may have just driven right by daycare. Linnea was much stronger than mommy the first day. She went into Sandy's arms and just kind of looked around and then watched Chris and I leave. I didnt cry until saying bye to Chris. I figured if the baby wasnt crying in front of me I better not either!

Anyways..I got to work fine and was welcomed with many hugs and excited hellos from the kindergartners so that was helpful too. Linnea has been all smiles both days I have picked her up and she is getting good reports from the providers as well. They say she is very sweet which we of course knew! They did say she seems a little scared when the other kids cry and she takes good naps, and had some trouble eating the first day. But yesterday she ate much better. I have to say I at least kind of enjoy the drive in...its right along the river road and by Minnehaha Falls. The picture below is before we left on the 2nd day...I guess we forgot to take one the first day. But Sandy has one. She will be putting together a scrapbook for Linnea!

A busy last week of maternity leave...

As some of you may read I said in an earlier post we were going to attempt to make it to the parade and we did!! YAY! It was pretty fun...Linnea seemed to enjoy the fresh air and different sounds during the parade. The fire engine may have been too loud but those bagpipes were nice! We made it to our last new parent group afterwards as well, then went to my parents house where we caught up with an old friend, then made it home for dinner and American Idol! What a busy day!

Wednesday was also busy because I finally brought her to meet the kindergartners I work with and we went to church in the evening with the Henjum grandparents. The kindergartners were all very well behaved and gentle with the little peanut who stayed awake for them and looked curiously around. She even threw some smiles in! The kiddoes asked what Linnea ate, if she cried and if she slept well. The kids thought I looked very different and the teachers thought Linnea looked mighty different than the beginning of February when they saw her at my shower!

I think she does too....probably because she is now 3 months and one week...she is 13 weeks old today. The picture below shows she is much bigger than that elephant now! I can't believe I was in labor that long ago...time is going by quickly. Tomorrow I go back to work and Linnea gets to meet some new providers and playmates. It will be hard but I know the days will go by fast. I am just going to focus on how happy we will be both be to see each other around 2:15! I will drop her off around 7 so our days will begin at 5! Which sometimes they have over break, but we usually go back to bed around 6:30! Not anymore, but such is life.

This picture below is of our attempt to go to Mommy and Me Yoga...I say attempt because similar to when we went to infant massage, Linnea made it through about 10-15 minutes and then put on quite the show with her screams so we ended up feeding for most of the class. But I got to watch and get some ideas of what we can do at home.

I just love this picture below so I thought I would post it. She is cuddling with her Easter Bunny. Linnea is trying to grab things these days and she is also really enjoying eating her hands!! The drool is coming as well so she may be doing some early teething!

So it may not be football season anymore, but if I didnt put this outfit on her now she may never get to wear it. Speaking of sports seasons, we have been watching some of the basketball games and we did a bracket but what we are very excited for is baseball. We did our fantasy baseball draft last night online which was lots of fun. Chris and I are both happy with our picks! Grandma Henjum watched Linnea while we drafted.

Linnea spent lots of time with Grandma H yesterday since her and I visited Great Grandma for an hour or so and gma H was there, then we went to the thrift store together and then on a walk!! Linnea got to spend Friday night with the Henjum grandparents and Great Aunt Julie and Great Uncle Bob so mommy and daddy could have a game night with friends.

What a wonderful way to end maternity leave. Wish us luck tomorrow!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Well a very sleepy and somewhat crabby Linnea would like to wish everyone a very Happy St. Patrick's Day. She has completely zonked out now and I am going to attempt to go to the parade in St. Paul before our new parent class. There maybe a much happier picture later, but I needed to take this now in case she spits up on her outfit while we are out! I should have timed our photo shoot better! oh well...you live and learn!

Maybe she is not as huge a fan of this holiday as her mommy!

Meeting some more family member

Well I tried like 4 times to get this picture to load on here the right way and it just wasnt working so you will have to look at it sideways! Sorry! Anyways...Linnea got to meet some more of her family last Saturday. Gabe, Courtney and their almost 2 year old son Caleb came to MN to cheer on their fav basketball team...the Stevens Point Pointers. ( I think thats their name) We were all able to meet at grandma's for pizza and hanging our before the game. Caleb was so cute with her...just kept saying baby and looking at her. He also played catch with Gabe and Chris and tried to help me change Linnea's diaper. What a fun evening!

Big News!

We have a lot of news to share...first of all our lil lady is now an 11 pounder who sleeps through the night!!! YAY!!! I think we have grandma and grandpa Henjum to thank for that. They babysat Linnea on Friday night while Chris and I went to see Watchmen with Chuck and his new girlfriend. We came home around 10:30 and she was sound asleep in her crib...I woke up around 3, she was still sound asleep. I proceeded to wake up again around 5 as this used to be our schedule...the baby was still sleeping and continued to sleep until about 8am!!! She has kept this up through today so that is 5 full nights of sleep in a row. We feel like new parents! Good girl!! Since she is 11lbs now we have put aside all of the newborn clothes to loan to one of Linnea's friends and some of the 0-3 months. We have noticed the 3-6 months are fitting the best. I am quite proud of this picture above...I did a little photo shoot with Linnea on our poppason chair this morning and I think it turned out very nice! We hope to get some professional 3 months pictures taken. I can't believe she is already almost 3 months and I have to go back to work on March 23rd...thats a like in a week and a half! Where does the time go?

So all of the above news is great...but we did a have a rough few days before the sleeping thru the night occured. As I wrote in a previous post Linnea needed to see an eye doctor because our dr thought her pupils were different sized. So we went to the eye doctor a week ago and it was VERY traumatic! She was not herself until Friday around 5, thank goodness because that is when she was getting babysat. Anyways...we were at the doctor for about 2 and a half hours. She had to get the drops that we get to dialate our eyes so she cried a bit with the sting of that, then we had to wait 30 minutes before getting seen again. When we were seen again the eye doctor had to pry her eyes open to shine the light in to make sure everything was fine. I had to hold her arms down while he was doing this and listen to her scream. It was terrible! And on top of all of that she of course was hungry! The good news is everything was fine and she shouldnt need to be seen again until kindergarten. We headed to a friends house afterwards to meet her newborn and eat!

Here she is sound asleep. She had a hard time falling asleep Thursday...in fact we gave in and let her sleep in her swing all night. We think she had a bit of acid refulx and colic that night because she wouldnt stop crying and she would really SCREAM when laid on her back. but we got through it and she has been back to normal ever since Friday, so that is good.

Chris and I are noticing that we dont have many pictures of just Linnea and us together or just one of us so we are trying to take more of those! Here are two cute ones!

An addition to the Nursery

Here is just another picture of our cutie pie! And below is the addition to her nursery. We bought these letters before she was born but didnt put them up since we werent sharing her name. But we finally found time 2 and a half months later to put the finishing touch on her room. I love it and think she does too. Linnea seems like she is definitely seeing color contrasts now. I put a white frame up in our living room on the red wall and she was just staring and staring at it. Its fun to watch her becoming more and more aware and curious!
