We headed to Ellsworth this morning for some cheesecurd fun! Yep, I said cheesecurd fun! It was Cheesecurd Festival in the cheesecurd capital of the world...Ellsworth. We went last year and decided to make it a tradition. It's a perfect place to meet Erik and Lisa and their boys and Chris's mom and Dave. It's pretty small but has everything we like...a petting zoo, horses, a litte train ride, food and a parade! And today was the perfect temperature for it! NO RAIN!!!

Tent in the House!
We were all a bit tired from our rainy morning out in Eagan so after nap we had a relaxing walk to and playtime at the neighborhood Choo Choo park. Well Linnea and I did. Daddy stayed back and grilled Brats for us. After our dinner we put Linnea's tent up in the living room to watch some shows before bed. She wanted to have her "baby" in there with her and this is how I found them when I peeked in. So sweet. I often catch her kissing the baby's head and saying "you are okay baby", burping the baby and asking baby if she needs her blanky for nigh nigh. Baby has also joined us at the park and sometimes joins Linnea and monkey in her crib! One time baby had a name and that was Sophia but usually it's just baby. She still enjoys pushing baby in her stroller and seems to get genuinely worried if she can't find baby or if baby gets stuck anywhere. It's so fun to see Linnea using her imagination more and more.
Teddy Bear Band!
Saturday morning we headed out to Eagan for their Art Festival and a performance by the Teddy Bear Band! Besides the Teddy BearBand show the main reason for heading out to this event was to get together with my new parent group. I just love that we continue to see or at least have something set up to see each other once a month. It was a fun time at the show but very rainy again! At least the performance was under a tent but we certainly were not dressed properly! I didnt see any rain in the forecast so us Meyers went in shorts, tank tops and dresses! I felt like a very unprepared bad mommy! But Linnea didnt seem to mind and we even played at the park a bit afterwards.
Science Museum
Friday we went to the Science Museum with a friend of mine who has a pass with enough free guests to get us in. We had not been there yet because I didn't know/remember if there was enough stuff to keep Linnea's attention and didn't want to pay to get in if we wouldn't be there very long. But Linnea was entertained indeed! We didn't make it through everything because there were quite a few field trips there and it wasn't easy to get around with all those people. It will be nice to go again with more time and less of a crowd. Id love to go to the Omnitheater again too! I remember loving that. We may wait for L to get a little older for that though! We had our lunch outside in the finally sunny weather and then did a few of their outside exhibits before heading home.
1st Parade of the Summer!
Not only did Linnea get to go to the DQ on Thursday she also got to go to a parade! It was Summerfest in Oakdale so we headed out there and met my parents for some fun. Linnea took a little while to get the hang of collecting candy but once she did she was one happy camper with lots of silly squeals of joy when more candy was thrown at her. She also wanted to give anything in costume a hug and she has the "Miss America" wave down pat. It was a great time even though it was sweatshirt weather! What a crummy June! Can we have a re-do please??
DQ with Daycare!
Linnea's daycare took a field trip to the neighborhood DQ and I got to go with! It is about 4-5 blocks away so we just walked there. Some kids rode in their "buggy" but most walked and they all did great and LOVED their ice cream cone! It was so fun to see Linnea giggling with her friends and enjoying herself.
Toddler Tuesday Once Again!
This past Tuesday was certainly a rainy and cold one! Linnea and I wanted to check out an Art Park in Eagan where they have special events every Tuesday morning for families but due to the weather we met Lori and her two girls Sophia and Isabelle at the Mall of America to partake in Toddler Tuesday again. It was a Kiddie Karnival themed week so we played one game and got a cute prize but then headed to the rides!!! We did get ice cream sandwiches at the Carnival first though. There is a really good deal on the rides and Linnea and her buddy Sophia are at a super fun age to go on the lil ones. They still need to have an adult with them so me or Lori were lucky enough to ride with them while the other one held Lori's new baby Isabelle. They loved the Diego Bus so much we did it twice, the carousel we went on once, I went on train with squirt and Lori went on Blue's Skidooz with Sophia while I got to hold the baby!

Rock the Garden
Tapes N Tapes
Booker T
Neko Case
My Morning Jacket
This was the lineup of who Chris and I and two of our friends got to go see in the rain at the Walker Art Center for Rock the Garden! Tapes n Tapes are local, Booker T is legendary and even played in The Blues Brothers, Neko Case is from Canada and I cant remember the unique thing about MMJ. Maybe just that they are awesome and have been a fav of Chris's for a long time. It was a huge range of music and not a dull moment. We even got to try tacos from the barrio taco truck! yum! We also got a big bucket of fries to share amongst the 4 of us and oddly enough when Chris was carrying them about 4 strangers thought we were also sharing with them and asked if they could have a fry. Who does that? Wierd. Rain, fry thieves and all it was a BLAST! We have wanted to go to this concert the last at least 3 years and either have had other plans or not been able to get tickets so we felt super lucky this year. And we were lucky that Chris's mom and Dave and Allison could watch Linnea. We left her during her nap at the twins birthday since this concert started at 4 on Saturday afternoon and went until 10. We had a great time and it sounds like squirt did too. They played in grandma's nice big yard and had movie nigh nigh until about 10pm! She was then up at 6:30am! And as I wrote in the Father's Day post proceeded through the day with basically no nap and lot of activity! What a trooper!
Happy Father's Day 2011!
"Any man can be a father, but it takes a special one to be a daddy!"
We had a great time celebrating the dads, daddies, grandpa's and papas in our lives on Sunday. Megan and Brian invited us over to Megan's parents house where we had a BBQ, played on their swingset and most exciting of all went swimming! Linnea was so ecstatic about this event. Which surprised me because we have yet to go swimming this year and she never got this pumped about it last year. We did manage to eat our lunch and ice cream sundaes and then hit the water. We had a great time! Mommy and papa got in with her and Monday at daycare she told everyone she swam with us and a puppy. (the puppy being the floaty she sat in) She did a pretty good job of kicking so I think she will catch onto swimming pretty quickly once we work on it or get her into swim lessons. She certainly isn't afraid of the water! After swimming we got our tired girl ready to go home and wished she would fall asleep right away on the way home. But nope. She waited until about 15 minutes from home and then didnt transfer well into the crib or our bed to nap. It didnt help she had a poopy diaper that needed to get changed. We tried to all lay down together but that didnt work either. Oh well, she wasn't particularly crabby so we still went to the neighborhood park and had daddy's fav food for dinner...pizza! Thank you Chris for all you do as Linnea's daddy. She is one lucky girl. I am one lucky lady to have my dad as my dad. Thank you for everything you have done for me!
