We got the house almost all the way decorated the day after we got the tree and before going back to school after Thanksgiving break. I always have the Polar Express Party the first weekend in December so that motivates me to get the house all lit up and cozy for Christmas.
The girls, especially Linnea, were very helpful with the tree :)
Harper LOVED this musical snowglobe!
and she took a few artsy shots of ornaments...this is one of my favs.
One of Linnea's favorite parts of decorating is putting up the Nativity Scene. She always does a nice job and has to get creative with who is in the manger with Mary since we have lost Joseph's head!
Chris wrapped some doors this year and there is our finished tree! Looking back at past pictures this is definitely one of the wider ones and we love it! Linnea helped put the star up and I thought I had a picture but I guess not :(
One of my favorite Christmas pictures this year:
Ho Ho Ho from the Santa Sisters! |
One of many centerpieces and tablecloths.
Well well well...look who flew in with the SNOW on November 30th????
Our pal Christopher Popinkins! He is such a cool lil elf to have around this time of year. And he really helps keep the girls in check too with his nightly visits to the North Pole to give reports to Santa on their behavior.
The girls have so much fun trying to find him each morning or afternoon. I tried to capture each hiding spot and discovery but sadly missed a few days. The rest of this post is all about Popinkins adventures in the Meyers house.
The pretty snow that flew him in!
Sadly the girls weren't off to a good start...Popinkins (who I may call P or Elf at some points in this post) did not visit Santa the first night as the girls had a poor bedtime. So he slept in one of the dolls crib and wrote them a note encouraging them to be good so he could visit Santa with a positive report!
They did not want to be on that naughty list and luckily elf made a trip to Santa the rest of the months :)
He played with Mr. Potato Head one time.
hung out with the green Santa Bears
found his way to the popcorn tub at the top of the fridge
Watched the Polar Express from within our tree
Rode with R2D2 on a Star Wars toy on the tv.
swung from a slinky between our curtain rods
Probably the silliest of all...this guy put red noses on a variety of pictures around the house!
And they are still there!
He hid in Harper's stocking.
And wrote Linnea a good luck note for her Winter Concert while riding in a plane with Snoopy :)
He found his fav movie and requested a family movie night...
And we listened! It was the perfect way to end a DAY of shopping. I enjoyed wrapping many presents during it too :)
The girls got to have this cute lil tree in their room this year. I call it the generational tree since I had it in college and then my grandma had it in her nursing home/assisted living rooms and now the Meyers sisters have it in their room.
Elf liked it too as he found sitting there in the morning :)
He tried fishing in our kitchen...
Harper thought it hilarious that he squeezed into the shelf with Elmo. So this really was an Elf on the Shelf moment :)
As Christmas Eve was getting closer we found him practicing his flight on this reindeer :)
Uh oh...he fell into the cookie jar!
On the morning of Linnea's Star Wars birthday party he was found stuck to the cupboard door thanks to Darth Vader!
I am quite sad I missed quite a few spots that this silly lil Elf hid and I really screwed up by missing out on his farewell...He had quite the light sabor fight with Elsa to get out! And he always lets the girls give him a goodbye hug and there were some cute shots of that. Oh well. I have a sneaking suspicion he will be back next year :) He is quite fun to have around.
