girls day

The girls and I spend most of our Sundays at my parents house after church and some Saturdays too. Sometimes through dinner, other times just through nap/rest time and home before daddy gets home. It is also a time I leave girls with my parents and go running or skiing. This past Friday we were having a fun movie night when daddy came home. Linnea made herself a snacky necklace while I made our bacon cheeseburger homemade pizza. The necklace involved fruit loops and cheerios. She thought it was pretty fun to eat that while watching Tinkerbell, the Great Fairy Rescue. I thought I had a picture of her with her necklace but I do not...

I do have a picture of what we did during the day on Friday though...we met up with some my high school friends...two who are new mommies and we have met her baby girl already but we had yet to meet one of the babies so it was wonderful to visit with them. And then Katie was there with her two kiddoes as well. A fun time was had by all, eating, visiting, having coffee and watching the babies!

What we've been up to...

Sorry I have been neglecting the blog...I have been back to work for 2 weeks now and the goal for the last two weeks was to figure out how to get out the door on time with everything I need, (pump, lunch, phone, etc.) and get everyone where they need to be and dinner on the table and somehow finding time to play/spend quality time with the girls and exercise...it.is.hard. Both staying home or working have their ups and downs and both are hard...I would take the staying home one though if given a choice. I've done both, and that is what I prefer. Its hard to leave these two:

But it does make it easier knowing Linnea loves her preschool and Harper is with daddy :)

Anyways...the first two weeks back weren't awful. I do like my job and I love my co-workers. I, however, do not love that I got switched from being in my awesome room that I was in for a year and a half (including summer) to being a float. Which means I am in a different room almost daily which makes it very hard to build any relationships with the students and teachers. It is a mystery to all the staff why the principal thinks this is a good idea. Our students with their severe to profound disabilities (and most students and people) appreciate and need consistency, and this is anything but consistency. Oh well, I will make the most of it, keep my eyes open for other jobs and be happy I have a job. I think Chris enjoyed being a stay at home daddy for the 4 days he was here, however we both feel like we never have a day off and are always working, but such is the life of being a parent. We wouldn't trade it in for anything, but are going to try harder to have/make time for just the two of us this year. Pretty sure we only had about 6 dates of just the two of us all year in 2012 so we hope to double that in 2013.

Onto the pictures of what we have been up to before my return to work and within my first two weeks back. I am not 100% sure when each of these was taken so I am putting them all on this post and will try harder to update more frequently next week. I also apologize for the quality of some of the pictures, they are from our phones, updated to Facebook and then taken from Facebook which aren't always the best:

ponytail baby!

experiment time again!

We went as a family to Wednesday morning Preschool Storytime at the Red Balloon Bookshop for my last day of maternity leave. We also picked up Caribou for lunch and goodies and I got to go skiing. With our schedules this was the last full day together as a whole family we would have until Martin Luther King Jr day that I and Linnea have off. (which is now soon since I waited so long to blog!)
I also took Linnea sledding later in the day after her nap. The hill behind our beloved choo choo park is perfect for her. The girl LOVES sledding and goes down all by herself! Someone had made a little snow fort she also enjoyed climbing on.

This was taken at a baby storytime, the baby fell asleep.
But Linnea still loved it!
Cutest lil Vikings fans! The Vikes suprisingly had a chance to make it to the playoffs so we dressed in purple and gold to cheer and watch with Daddy when he got home from work, but the game was turned off rather quickly. I think we watched an hour together, I went to put Linnea to bed and when I came down Chris informed me it wasnt worth watching anymore. What a bummer to have such a crappy game when Chris could actually watch it since it started at 7 on Sat night instead midday Sundays when he is at work now. Better luck next year Vikings!

Happy New Year!!!

We had friends over again this NYE and it was so much fun! We had shredded BBQ Chicken Sandwiches, fruit, chips, spinach artichoke dip and veggies. Nothing super fancy but just right for us and our guests, the Burtons. Dan, Erin and Emma are such a nice family who we love having over. The girls played for a bit and then Chuck and Deanna came over and we turned the Kinect on and played and played and played! We bowled, did some "High Adventures" and a few other sports. We had some cookies and sparkling juice before watching and relaxing with The Snowman. The Burtons left after that, about 10 or so, but Chuck and Deanna stayed to go through my maternity clothes since they are expecting baby number 1 in June. We all (yes Linnea too) stayed up til 11 and toasted, smooched and said Happy New Year with the New Yorkers. Chuck and Deanna left right after that and we got Linnea to bed, fed Harper once more and went to bed shortly afterwards. It was a great way to ring in the New Year...we hope everyone has a wonderful 2013! One of my possible goals for the year is to do some kind of race every month...so we will see how that goes.

playing kinect!

cheers!

Happy New Year!
Chuck and Deanna who will be Harper's Godparents :)

On New Year's Day I brought Linnea to Como Zoo, for the Happy Zoo Year celebration. She did some crafts,

 we watched the balls drop...

and then ran into our neighborhood friends while walking through the "jungle".

We went to see the poinsettas at the conservatory which were beautiful!

but maybe not as beautiful as this blue tongue from an airhead candy she ate!
What a fun way to start the New Year! It was freezing though!

Christmas with Henjum's #2

We got together Sat Dec 29 with my family again to celebrate with Erik and Lisa and their boys since it was their year to be up with Lisa's side over Christmas. We had a very fun day filled with LOTS of playing, eating, opening gifts and we even got to go sledding! Linnea went down all by herself which was a first! She LOVES it! Sadly Chris had to miss this too because of his new work schedule...there are more pros to his weekend shift than cons though and he was with us on Christmas Eve and Day so its okay :)

Harper enjoying the gparents sesame street floor gym.

Merry Christmas!

Harper got a baby book! Better start filling it in!
The sledding fun! Near the end...notice the rosy cheeks!
Celebrating your first Christmas is exhausting!!!

Children's Museum

Linnea and I met up with Lori Wallin and her girls for an afternoon at the Children's Museum 2 days after Christmas. There was a new exhibit right up Linnea's alley called Ball o Rama! It included many bouncing balls of all different sizes and ramps and mazes you could go through with the ball. There was also a castle exhibit with an inflatable dragon that popped in and out of the castle with the push of a button. Linnea and the gals loved it. They also loved the usual bubble, water, dancing and pretend play activities!

This was a MUCH better trip  to the museum than the last time...for those of you read this you may remember the last trip involved me being called a terrible parent. I must have improved with two since no one accused me of that this time :)

Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas Day!

After opening our presents at home with eachother we headed to Bay City to celebrate with the Meyers. It was a lovely afternoon of eating ham and other goodies, opening more presents, visiting and playing Allison's new Kinect. Aunt Ally and Linnea probably could have played the dancing game all night.

Peyton and Ella enjoying a TimTam.

The girls. (minus Harper)

Happy Baby!

Cant wait to see the Meyers again!
