Steven's Point, WI

The girls and I had a three day weekend two weeks ago and we started the fun with a Thursday night movie...

The new Annie and we LOVED it! Such fun music and a heartwarming story again...very similar to the first but modernized :)

I actually still brought the girls to daycare around 10 so I could run, organize, clean and pack for a little weekend getaway. I didnt get as much done as wanted but I got enough done. And we were on our way to Stevens Point, WI to see our cousins around 5:30 I'd say. And by we, I just mean me and the girls...I was a little nervous about this but really wanted to go still. Chris had also really wanted to go but got sick in the middles of the day and knew a long car ride would NOT help. So a girls road trip it was! And overrall the girls were great..they watched two movies, we did a bathroom and dremamine and icee stop and then a Subway stop for dinner because none of the drive thrus sounded good and I did pullover to call my cousin to make sure I was going the right way. My GPS seemed to have stopped working. So somehow all of that took just over 4 hours. Apparently everything takes a little longer with just one adult and two young kiddoes! It was 930 when we got there and their kids were still up and there was ice cream waiting for us as well. Bedtime was about midnight for all of us! Who knew the kids could stay up that late...even with staying awake the entire drive.

Morning coloring!

We went to watch Caleb play soccer and then the kids played in the YMCA play center for a bit while we waited for the arrival of my parents.

Shortly after they arrived we went out to lunch to a yummy pizza by the slice parlor called Politos. Many different flavors were had...cheese, mac an cheese, mexican, bbq steak and french fries, and mediterranean.

We then played at an awesome universal park called KASH!

The front view of their beautiful home built by my cousin!

And here is my cousin Gabe! He was working hard smokin some ribs for us and frying some cheese. We also had a yummy buffalo chicken dip and potato salad for supper.

More coloring and being silly before dinner.

DELICIOUS!!

We introduced the Gabes to letterboxing and did two letterbox hikes after dinner.

One was in a sculpture park...

The kids on the BIG BENCH!

And the other one was a nature center.

The plan was to walk up an appetite and go to Belt's ice cream afterwards but it was quite late and we had gotten chilly and the line looked like it would have easily been 45 minutes long...none of those things sounded good so headed back to Gabe's to raid his freezer which was fully of ice cream anyways.

The next morning we biked around the neighborhood and played at Caleb and Courtney's school playrgound which is pretty much across the street and down the road from their house :)

Harper was in heaven on this bike with training wheels that was just her size. She didnt pedal but she sure thought she was making this move!

Playing with the lightsaver before we went on another letterbox hike before Belt's :)

Going on a hunt...

We found it!

Finally time for the Steven's Point treat of Belt's Ice Cream :) It was so fun to go back here. They have the most fun flavors and huge servings! I had a chocolate covered pretzel with salted caramel flurry in chocolate ice cream...basically a blizzard but bigger and cheaper! We used to go here when the rest of Gabe's family lived in Stevens Point and we would visit for holidays or lil weekend/summer trips. Felt like a walk down memory lane. We also drive past their own beautiful house.

The girlies all had cones...yes Harper is trying to eat hers with a spoon. I dont know why. She's kind of a weird kid sometimes.

It was a great trip that went way too quick and we missed Chris/daddy. We will go back this summer for sure! Theres a fun pool and more letterboxes. And of course cousins and ice cream :)

Playing, Gymnastics, Music, Sleeping and CATS!

April is really flying by!
Since Easter we have had some nice enough days to play in our backyard after daycare...

Linnea started gymnastics through community ed at a High School nearby. Her coaches are High School students which I think is really cool! Good for the students and good for Linnea to see some good role models :) She has enjoyed the first three sessions and Im looking forward to seeing the show at the end of May. Us parents sit out while they learn.
I have quite enjoyed the time to read in the hallway!

Harper thought she'd try sleeping in the doll crib...

Linnea had a nonfiction writer's showcase at her school where she got to read her book about the arctic wolf to any parents that came. My dad and I were able to make it. I got to be there for morning meeting as well which was very fun! Along with their book the kids also made pretty awesome diaramas to go with it. Linnea's sure looks like a wolf den! We are so proud!

Linnea had her second playdate with someone from school who isn't from our neighborhood group of friends. We went to Chucky Cheese with Mary Jane and her mom.  We had only been to a chucky cheese one time and it was for a bday party. I would have rather gone to a park but the girls had a blast eating pizza and playing the games :)

I braved Rock the Cradle alone with the two gals this year. We did meet up with our friend Gail and her girls so I wasn't totally alone :) We love this free event put on by our fav radio station. It takes place at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Childrens Theater. There are fun kids bands, crafts, activities, dancing and more. We had a great time!

Walking in hand in hand.
She was ready to Rock it!

Loving breakdancing/hip-hop again just like at rock the Ordway!

practicing soccer wiith the MN Loon! We hope to get to a game this summer!

Enjoying painting pianos that will be placed around town this summer for anyone to play!

Listening to the Bunny Clogs before heading home.

What a fun day!

I think we better get the kid a cat!!!!!

Harper is doing so much better sleeping in her room these days...after 2 and a half years of co sleeping we welcome this with big smiles! She takes a while to fall asleep and sometimes trots into our room around 4 but we are doing good with the transition! She either sleeps in her bed with all these toys or with Linnea squeezed in between big sis and the wall.
It's very sweet!
