Somewhat Sick Sunday...

Sunday morning I woke up feeling fine and went for a walk. Chris however woke up very sore and then continued to get nauseas...we hope we can figure out his tummy stuff soon! He hopes to hear from his doctor tomorrow and get a referral to a GI specialist or a surgeon for his gall bladder/digestive issues.
Linnea woke up raspy and with a cough so we took it pretty easy. Linnea watched Nemo again, played, finished up our art, had lunch and then rest/nap time. Well Chris and Linnea did, I went and got a much needed haircut and also checked out a pass for Como Zoo from the library. I always wondered why they had a pass for Como when it is free...well I learned it is because you get 3 free rides when you check it out and some other coupons or you can choose a coffee or something else, but anyways...we chose the rides because Miss Linnea had a great week of sleeping!!!! Her bedtime is still way too late and she sleeps in too late but we will get to that. We wanted to re-conquer sleeping through the night in her own bed first and that was done this week! 5 days in a row she slept like a champ. So she earned her rides...Chris couldn't join us this time but we sent him pictures on the phone of Linnea being a big girl and going on rides all by herself! I'm not gonna lie, I was a little nervous for her to go on Frog Hopper as it goes pretty high and then drops down quickly but she did great! She looked a little scared on the first drop but then had a huge grin for the rest of the ride. I'm excited to go again with Chris and friends...Linnea will like it even more with a friend!

We had to hug and kiss the monkey goodbye. and the elephant. and the giraffe.

Getting stuff done!

Saturday we started out at the Central Library again where Snapdragon Seeds was playing. Another fun kid band...we hadn't seen it before but Linnea really liked it and did some dancing/jumping all by herself! We checked out a few things after the show and then headed home for lunch.

After lunch we got to work on our canvas art!

Mommy painting Linnea's hands for her butterflies.

Butterflies for Linnea's side made with her little handprints.
Lion and Elephant handprint art made with my hands which were painted by Linnea for the baby's side. There will be a giraffe as well but I had some trouble with that one. Who knew making a giraffe with your handprint could be so tricky. Thank goodness these canvas packs of 2 were buy one get one free and I had a 10% off coupon!

Chris was feeling better so he was super busy while we were gone and got some laundry in, some hung out to dry and got a coat of paint on baby's side! Linnea was very excited to see the paint she had helped pick out. The day continued with just getting random things done around the house...laundry, dishes, picking up, etc, that by the end of the day we decided we earned a movie night. L and I had bought Finding Nemo at a garage sale for a buck so we thought we'd give that a try. As expected I think L got a little scared at parts but overrall really liked it. It sure has some funny lines in it that I had forgot all about!

Anders!

Thursday was filled with errands and Linnea was such a trooper going to three different places! We went to Micheal's to get some canvas to make our own wall art for the baby's side of the room and for squirt too, Target for my contacts and then Home Depot for paint for baby's side and I ended up buying an indoor plant and mum as well. She definitely earned some M & M's from the Depot!
Thursday evening we brought dinner over to our new parent friends! Missy and Ross just had their baby boy Anders in the middle of the July. He was a month old and mommy and daddy felt ready for visitors. So I made a taco bake and apple dessert and Linnea and I headed over.

Chris missed out since he has been having gall bladder issues and was feeling pretty crummy. He stayed home after his ultrasound Thursday morning in hopes he would feel better but no luck.
Linnea enjoyed meeting the baby but I think she was expecting a toddler...hopefully she will realize soon that I am not giving birth to a toddler. The baby won't do much other than sleep, cry and go to the bathroom for a while!

A beautiful day!

Friday we tried out a new storytime...there were just two other kiddoes there with their dad, but the librarian read two cute books for us anyways and then played his guitar and sang some fav kid tunes. Linnea sang and danced a little and we enjoyed ourselves. When the librarian was done with his storytime, Linnea put on her own for me:
(well again, this picture is on my phone so it may or may not get on here.)

We checked out a fav park of ours afterwards and played on the slide and swing and then ran around in the field for a bit.

We decided it was a perfect day for a picnic in our yard...until the bees decided the same thing. We ate outside for about 10 minutes and put up with shooing them away but then headed inside.

After nap and dinner and we headed to the choo choo park to play for a little while :)

Music, trains and a bounce house!

Wednesday morning we really wanted to go to one of the Woodbury Lakes Shopping Mall's concert series...again MacPhail Musc School was going to be there and sadly again they were cancelled! I'm not sure why they were cancelled last time but this time it was because it was a pretty rainy early morning and it wasn't clear when it was stopping so they cancelled. Bummer :( We found a different fun music show though at the Central Library in St. Paul which is a very fun library for kids...the kids area is HUGE! Wendy's Wiggle, Jiggle, and Jam was performing there and we have seen her in the past and she is quite fun so we enjoyed the show! Linnea even went up by herself when she called for 3 year olds to "help" hold veggies while singing about healthy food. I think she had the peapod!
So cute!

After the show we left quite quickly because when we are at the Central Library we need to use a parking meter and our time was running up!

From the library we headed to the Jackson Street Roundhouse which we had passes for from a different trip to the library. I have wanted to take L to this train museum for quite some time but the hours are only 10-4 on Wed and Sat so it was hard to get there. We had a wonderful time touring the trains, playing with some trains, pushing buttons to make the horn sound and playing with magnets. I'd like to go back on a Saturday and go on a caboose ride! I also think they do a fun Christmas event with Santa!

We headed home for lunch and naps, had dinner and then headed out again for Roseville's final Discover Your Park event. Linnea went in the bounce house again but it was shortlived since she got jumped on by a bigger kid...so she crawled out whimpering

and then we got her a tattoo,

some popcorn and lemonade and waited for the puppet show to start.

It was the story of the lion and the mouse and then it was the kids turn to get in and put on their show. This time Linnea was a monkey!

What a fun, busy day!

Caponi Art Park/Lorax

I have wanted to check out Caponi Art Park since last summer I think and finally made it there this summer. They have family fun every Tuesday morning and this Tuesday one of our fav kids bands, The Okee Dokee Brothers, was performing there so we packed ourselves a picnic lunch and headed to Eagan. It was a very fun and beautiful place! The band was great, we went on a nice hike and looked at many sculptures and then had our picnic.

a "coconut" (actually an acorn, but she insists they are coconuts.

We headed home to grab some things, but then left right away to go to the Merriam Park Library where they were showing The Lorax for free. We hadn't seen that movie yet so we were looking forward to it. I liked it and Linnea seemed to like it but when I ask her if she did, she says, "um, not too much." But doesn't really say why.

We visited her old daycare to get a cd of pictures and videos of her and also give them some zucchini bread. Boy the cd of pics and videos is cute! She had a good time seeing her old teacher and some of her friends who are still there. This is her old, old daycare where she was as a toddler so the kids who are still there are quite a bit younger and she maybe didn't remember or recognize them. She remembered teacher Karen though and is now saying she just wants to go back there this fall. Her other teacher, Jenny wasn't there so we will go another time to visit.

Merry Go Round!

Guess what???? Linnea went to bed without us sleeping on the floor for a whole week so she got her ride on the merry go round! This week she has done great without ending up in our bed at some point in the night, which means she will earn herself a whole day/morning of rides at Como Town! Go Linnea go! Mommy and daddy are proud of you! Next step will be getting to bed earlier...preferably by 8:30 or maybe even 8. Not between 9 and 10! That is more in our hands than hers though.

We spent a very fun evening Monday evening at the choo choo park with our neighbors too.

Thirft Store finds!

Saturday (when we dropped the couches off), Sunday and Monday Linnea and I spent some time at thrift stores searching for things for the nursery/her room. We had wonderful luck which makes me so happy!

We found these two lamps and lampshades:

Lamps and lampshades from different days and places but we think they will work together just fine!
This jungle sheet and a few 4T (yes 4T, they are a little big now but her 3T stuff is going to be too small soon) outfits:

pink sparkly art for Linnea's side of the room:
(picture to come, it is hanging up in her room already and she is sleeping so I will try to remember to take a pic tomorrow)

a picture frame for our new family of four:
(picture to come)

and the best deal of all, this Pottery Barn Kids Chair:

Sold at Pottery Barn for over $100, we got it for $1.99!!!!
I couldn't believe it!

Now we still need have a ways to go...we need a twin bed frame (we may use my old day bed frame for the time being), under the bed drawers or totes, a crib and some butterfly decor for Linnea's side of the room. We are planning to make some while we make the jungle art for baby's side.
Chris and I also desperately need dressers for our own room but that will have to wait. Oh and a dryer...we will need a dryer...so I did some laundry at my parents Sunday when I picked Linnea up. But after this fall the clothesline won't really be an option! eek!
