Movie Night!

It rained and rained and rained all day today! So it made it easier to go do our grocery shopping. Chris went to Sam's and I went to Rainbow with my sidekick. The sidekick decided to try walking in the store today...until today I have been able to convince her to sit in the cart with snacks and such but today she wanted to walk. So I gave it a whirl...we weren't in a real big hurry. She did pretty good minus when she somehow knocked a big glass jar of pickles on the floor. She stood in amazement and then started apologizing. We told an employee who didn't make a big deal of it and picked it up. She was very "helpful" at grabbing everything and anything she wanted but was very good at putting it back on the shelf when I said we didn't need it. Eventually she did get back in the cart and we finished up much quicker. The rest of the day was a nap for squirt, tidying up for mom and dad and then a trip to REI to get some thin mattresses for our upcoming camping trip! After that errand was the highlight of my day...a picnic of healthy snacks on the living room floor with a movie! The movie was certainly aimed for Linnea's liking more than ours but we didn't mind it...we watched Chipwrecked, the third Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. I liked it more than the second and haven't seen the first to compare. What another fun night!
We have been having lots of fun this week! I got to go on a field trip on Tuesday to the Como Zoo with my students which was wonderful! The weather was perfect and the animals were out! The weather was still nice when I got home so Linnea and I headed to the Choo Choo park. I hadn't taken a picture of her in a while there so I thought I would get one.

She has decided she LOVES this night gown and she has always loved laughing with daddy before bed! This was amazing she was laughing this evening after the "torture" we put her through. She needed her toenails cut and she still screams and screams and fights the whole time. As you can see we "rewarded" her with an oreo for doing such a "good" job. I think we should be the ones getting the reward though! We still love you squirt but really are ready for you to be okay with clipping the toenails!

Playdate and Date Night!

Last Saturday was a BUSY day! Super fun but super busy! I was up before the other two and went on a walk before the craziness began. When I got back home Linnea and I quick got ready for our swimming playdate! yes swimming in mid May! It was so much fun! Turns out one of our new parent group members has a pool and they had opened it so we spent the morning there.

Linnea and Josie!
Two girls who will be big sisters this fall!
All ready to take a dip!

Me at about 5 months and Missy at about 7!

Linnea and I came home and I quick got ready for a good friend's baby shower. Linnea got to stay home with daddy and have lunch and nap.
My dad was nice enough to come pick squirt up for their night of babysitting her. I had already driven out and back to Woodbury twice so for him to come get her was just great! With Linnea over at my parents for the night Chris and I got to have a much needed date night! We are pretty sure it has been since Valentine's Day that he and I did anything just us two! So we went to see The Avengers. And we LOVED it! What we also loved was we used some groupons I had to get in which saved us basically half of what it normally costs to get into the movies. Well during the movie there was a power short for like 20 minutes so on our way out we were given free passes to come to another movie! wahoo! Sunday was spent together but not having nearly as much fun since we had to clean and put clothes away at our house. I just cannot figure out how the house gets so out of control so quickly! But again we were so grateful for my parents who kept Linnea until dinner so we could get a lot done. They even made us dinner of Belgian Waffles when we picked our sweet girl up! What a fun weekend!

FunFest!

Have I mentioned before that the school I work at is a very special place? Cuz it is! And I was so happy to finally get to share that place with Chris and Linnea this past Friday. Each spring BVS hosts FunFest which is a community carnival that raises money for our school. All the activities and prizes are done with donations from staff and families of our school and local organizations and run by the staff of school who volunteer their time after working hard all day/week. There are carnival games with cute prizes, horse rides, Vulcan fire truck rides, raffles, hot dogs, burgers, walking tacos, ice cream, sno cones, etc.

We had a great time! Linnea was all smiles at the petting zoo, riding a horse, playing dip a duck and painting her spin artwork! She also loved the Vulcan fire truck ride through the neighborhood.

All ready to ride the BIG horse!

I was pleasantly surprised on Monday when I learned I won the movie basket raffle I put $4.00 in! It was a $20 GC to AMC, popcorn and a fun popcorn bowl, candy and pretzels! Perfect for us! We also a PB chocolate cake in the cake walk! yay us and yay for funfest and everyone who donated things and time to make it happen!

Happy Mother's Day!

Mommy and Linnea and Baby #2 on the way!

Well our Mother's Day was a little different than we planned but we were all together so we made the most of it. We just didn't see any of our moms or grandma's :( We were hoping to meet grandma Sarah (Chris's mom) in Prescott at a new fun looking playground for some playing and a picnic, but she had some car problems and couldn't make it. We had planned on meeting my parents for supper and a quick visit to GG after Linnea's nap so us driving all the way to Bay City to see her wouldn't work either. Hopefully we can see her this weekend. We ended up going to a new park here and hunting for a letterbox. Well, we didn't find the box and the hike was not toddler or stroller or preggo friendly so that was disappointing and oddly enough Linnea was having some bathroom issues which is so weird and frustrating since she has been potty/poop trained since last October! I don't think she was feeling well and just didn't really know how to tell us. We luckily got to our lunch destination of the St. Paul Bagelry before it closed and had a quick lunch in there before heading home for squirt and daddy's nap and gardening time for me. We got her down, I got some major weeding and cleaning up done in the garden but then when Linnea woke up she was completely out of sorts and crying and saying her tummy hurt. SO needless to say we decided to stay home and rest with a movie with her. We still made homemade pizza and had a nice evening but it would have been nice to see the mom's on Mother's Day! We did talk to them and think about them though. I love being a mom and wish I had more time to give to my daughter but I think I do pretty good and create memories for us as much as a working mama can. It is so nice to have a day to celebrate myself and all the mom's and mama's to be out there!

Happy 1st Birthday Kaylan!

Baby Kaylan turned the big 1 last week and we celebrated Saturday! It was a great party full of kids, a bounce house, walking tacos, swingsets, tractors and Linnea's favorite a children's music artist! It was also fun to see Brian and Megan's house and garage that they have been working so hard on the past few months! Hopefully Kaylan had as much fun as we did! She sure seemed to enjoy her cupcake and frosting!

Garage Sale Season!

We started Garage Sale Season by having a sale...well more like my parents had one and we gave them plenty of things to sell. I took the day off Friday to help cashier and do some shopping. I just love garage sales! When I see a sign for one it's like the car gets a mind of its own and just goes to it! It was the Woodbury Lions Club Garage Sales weekend that my parents chose do their sale during so there were signs everywhere! It's pretty good I wasn't driving! My mom, aunt and I were gone most of the afternoon shopping while my dad manned the sale. It was a pretty steady, busy day and we sold lots! And we found plenty of treasures...including 25 cent maternity and baby/toddler clothes!

Walking to our second sale!

Someone LOVES sitting on big rocks!

Picking a bouquet of dandelions for grandma for Mother's Day!

Linnea and Chris came out after preschool and work on Friday for dinner and Linnea stayed the night with me. Chris got to have a night to himself and was able to get some stuff done around our house Saturday morning. Linnea and I on the other hand helped set up the sale, helped cashier for a little while and then some friends stopped by our sale and we tagged along with them and walked to two sales in the neighborhood and ended up at the park and walking around the pond for a bit. Chris came over around lunchtime Saturday and helped with the sale before we closed around 2:30 for a cute lil girl's 1st birthday. The next post will be devoted to "baby" Kaylan.

Cookies!

yummy and safe eggless cookie batter!
I think this is the first time she had tried licking a beater!

We had some rainy days last week so Linnea and I made some Heath cookies to enjoy here at home and sell at my parents garage sale!

Happy Birthday Day Dad/Papa!

We celebrated my dad's birthday with the extended family and friends on Sunday May 6th. Some of the group was hoping to go on a bike ride before the party but cold rainy weather stopped them.

"Helping" make Papa's cake!

Kaylan during the gift opening.

just hanging out at the park!

It turned out to be a nice enough afternoon to play at the park for a little while and play in my parents yard too. We made my dad a Whopper Ice Cream Cake and Aunt/Sister Julie made some yummy cookies to go with it. I think my dad enjoyed his special day. I know we did!

Cinco De Mayo!

We spent our Cinco De Mayo doing errands and random things around the house and probably hit a playground but it's hard to remember. I'm sure we had taco soup, corn dip and chips and some non-alcoholic daquiris! yum!
