First night and day at home!

Linnea immediately wanted to hold Harper when we got home so we did that and just kind of hung out, ate supper and then did baths and went to bed. We all went to bed at the same time because we didnt know how long Harper would sleep. I like to follow the rule of sleep when baby sleeps! I dont do every well with that during the day but have no problem going to bed at 9 if that is when she is done nursing and asleep!

She is not sleeping in her crib yet...we have the bassinet in our room that she is doing okay in.

First bath at home.

2 girls all clean and ready for bed...mom's turn for a bath now while daddy laid Linnea down.

Harper stayed like this for about 2 or 3 hours and then woke to eat and stay up for 1-2 hours. Very similar sleep schedule to when Linnea was a newborn. Chris and I are good at taking turns with the night awake time!

Harper resting.

Our lil ballerina holding lil sis.

Mom came over to bring some breast pumps and visit on Friday night.

Going Home

Thursday we filled out all our discharge papers and were ready to go home! St. Joe's is a wonderful place and took very good care of us but we were ready to go home and start figuring out how to be a family of four. And we really missed our lil squirt Linnea.

Maybe a thumb sucker??

time to go home!

all buckled in!

We headed straight to preschool to pick up Linnea. She was very happy to have her whole family pick her up and her teacher came out and looked at Harper as well. Harper slept the whole time.

Hospital Visitors

I am not sure who was more excited for Linnea to meet Harper...her or me. I couldn't wait for big sister to meet little sister. My parents had her overnight and kept her updated on mommy and baby's progress with Chris's pictures he sent on the phone. By the time we were cleaned up after the birth it was too late for any visitors so my parents and Linnea came mid morning on Wednesday. Linnea walked in like she owned the place and gave me a huge hug and wanted to see the baby and hold the baby! She thought she was very cute but looked tired.
love at first sight!

Happy Family of 4!

SISTERS!

LOVE

Linnea gave Harper a cute picture frame that we will put a "sister" picture in one of these days. Linnea got a bag full of goodies from us and Harper to keep her busy while visiting. Linnea and my parents also made cupcakes for Harper's "birthday" for us to share with everyone who came to visit. Aunt Megan also stopped by on her lunch break while my parents and Linnea were there. They all enjoyed holding the new little addition but then left for lunch and to bring pictures of Harper to GG. Chris and I rested the rest of the afternoon and then my parents, Linnea and Chris' mom and sister Allison came around supper time. Again, Harper was passed around and shown how much she is loved already. We said our goodbyes and got to bed somewhat early, looking forward to going home Thursday. Linnea was looking forward to preschool and showing off a picture of her and lil sis.

Harper Marie Meyers!

Our daughter number two has arrived!!!!
She is the sweetest little baby and loved so much already!

First Bath

all snuggled in for a few hours
As I wrote in the last post we all went to work and preschool as planned on Monday the 17th...Monday was a super long day for me since my bus was an hour late to pick us up! Little did I know this would be my last day of work until January. I had had some "leaking" beginning early Monday morning (like 3am early) but didn't think anything of it so went to work, but by Tuesday morning this leak had a pink tint to it so I called the hospital and they recommended coming in to get it checked out. Being that I was two days past due date we didn't want to take any risks. I called my mom  to see if she could come over to be with Linnea (luckily this was a Tuesday which she has off), I texted my bus sub, I called school and of course I called Chris who had only been at work for a half hour but he came home immediately. I quickly packed our bags (no I hadn't done that yet, once a procrastinator, always a procrastinator). Mom arrived, Chris arrived and off we went. Linnea said good luck and got a huge hug and smooch goodbye.  I genuinely thought we would be coming back home since I hadn't been having contractions...well I was wrong! After some checking, it was discovered that the leak was my water slowly breaking, which meant it had been broken for about 30 hours, which meant I had a high chance of infection unless we got this labor started with nothing other than my friend pitocin. And by friend, I mean enemy. That stuff is just the worst, but it did help get Harper out. And this time we eased into it so the contractions started out a little easier than last time. It was about the same amount of time of laboring (about 9 hours), but much less pushing this time...only and hour and 15 minutes instead of 2 hours and 40 minutes like with Linnea! SO along with pitocin, wonderful Chris, wonderful nurses, my amazing doctor, music, Friends on tv and two forms of pain meds one being the epidural, Harper Marie arrived at 9:58pm on Tuesday September 18th.

40 Weeks!

So here we are....already at due date weekend!
Friday I made some spicy salsa after work with hopes that maybe if I ate that through the weekend we would have this baby. No luck, but anyways. After supper we spent some time with our neighbors at the Choo Choo Park before our usual ice cream with a show before bed.

Saturday I got up and went for a walk and then I guess you could say we just kind of "nested" and waited around here. We got more dishes (including some bottles) and laundry (including the bassinet bedding) done. We put lots of clothes away. Watched some shows. Did some puzzles and coloring. And then we found a new park which also had a letterbox there, a letterbox we actually found! woohoo!

We came home and made chicken tacos on corn tortillas with homemade taco seasoning so Chris didn't need to worry about any gluten! He is doing much better with this elimination! Still going to an upper GI doctor on the 26th of Sept to make sure nothing else is going on.
Here I am Sunday the 16th...the due date of baby number 2. But no baby. So we will all be going to work and preschool tomorrow, provided nothing happens through the night, which I am not expecting anything to.

I think this baby will be born on the first day of fall which is Saturday September 22nd, just like Linnea was born on the first day of Winter. This one does not need to follow Linnea's footsteps and be induced though. Linnea went to Sunday School again, but with just my mom this morning so that Chris and I could go shopping for her present from her sibling(aka, stuff to keep her busy when visiting in the hospital!)

Chris' family came up around 3 and delivered our new crib! So Chris will be putting that up tomorrow after work. We had Linnea's old one set up in the room for two pictures you saw, but that one is just not in good shape anymore and we dont trust putting a baby in there. We showed his family the choo choo park and had Z pizza with them since we had a BOGO coupon and they make gluten free pizzas. Fun day and weekend! A little more low key than I am used to but as Linnea laid down she said, I had fun today. So that makes me happy! She also told me it is too hot to be fall still, that is why baby is not here. I think she is right. This week will be cooler though so that is a good sign!

A Night with Papa/Dad

Monday night after work we met my dad at my house and headed to the Twins Game!

wow
yummm...mini donuts!

getting sleepy.

picture time on the big gold glove!

Nothing like waiting til a week before baby is due and the last month of baseball to go cheer the boys on. Oh well...we picked a good one to go! The weather was perfect and they won! Linnea had a great time being back at Target Field (she didn't get to a game last year but had been to Twins games every other year of her short life!) She liked looking around, clapping, the music and of course her ice cream and being with her papa. Thanks dad for a fun night out!
