Minnesota State Fair

Along with the Como festivities and visiting GG, the Thomas' were also here to go to the State Fair. After much thought I decided to meet up with them with Linnea. My friend was nice enough to give us a free admission ticket and Linnea is always free so that sealed the deal and off we went.

of course we had to hug the mascot!

Chris decided to stay home so save some money,  tidy up and continue to rest his tummy. Linnea and I had a great time! Turns out our friend the Wallins were also going there that morning so we did the Little Farm Hands with them which we have also done in the past with them. Before meeting them however, we took a park and ride bus ride which L loved, played with some bubbles and listened to a kids band.

We met up with Thomas' at a DFL building of all places where Linnea signed her name on an Obama poster, got a balloon and a picture with the President. We then thought it was already time for some ice cream. So to the Dairy Barn we went.
hot already...time for some ice cream!
We then went to look at the animals. Linnea got a one on one explanation of milking cows, a cow tattoo and a sucker for answering a question about a cow after spinning a wheel. At this point it was quite hot and we were pretty tired so we went to the coliseum for some horse shows and popcorn with the Thomas'. That was a wonderful break and idea...I had never been to a horse show and it was much cooler in there than anywhere else. We sat for about an hour maybe and then went to Heritage Square where I dont remember being in a long time so that was pretty neat too.

We also hit the DNR building which is always fun to see the stuffed animals and real fish. It was definitely supper time at this point so we shared hot turkey sandwiches and australian potatoes. YUM! Then we said goodbye to our cousins and aunt and uncles. Linnea and I went through the agriculture building on our way out to get an apple cider freezie and some free honey samples. I also like to look at the "crop" art made with corn, beans, rice, etc. We had a great day but it felt wonderful to get home and just sit in the AC for a while! What a fun way to end the summer!
