Strep :(

Well we had been thinking all week (before Father's Day) that Linnea was a little off...however she had no fever, preschool said she seemed fine but as parents we just knew her tummy bug from Tuesday wasn't completely gone. As you saw in a previous post she was home with me Monday when we went and played at a park. She was fine then, but woke up Tuesday morning with a tummy ache and ended up throwing up a few times. I didn't have to work so we just laid low at home with movies, shows, puzzles, books and napped.
By Tuesday evening she seemed back to normal but did keep saying her teeth hurt. She also had her fingers in her mouth quite a bit and wasn't sleeping well at night, but other than that she seemed fine. I still kept her home Wed to have one more fun day with her and just to make sure she was better. We went to the Midtown Global Market on Lake Street in Minneapolis where I thought there was going to be a kids concert...however me and my preggo mind looked at the wrong date and it was actually a kid friendly cooking demonstration. Manny from Manny's Tortas made some breakfast burritos which were definitely delicious...even Linnea liked them! There was also a kids play area and plenty of fun things to look at. I ran into a friend I worked with a few years ago in Mpls and her daughter so we caught up a bit which was fun!
We got some sorbet before heading to Target to pick out Peyton and Ella's gift. It was a fun morning/day! SO since she seemed so good, we sent her to preschool Thursday and Friday. Saturday she went to her dance class and the twins' bday party as you read about already.
Sunday we did our Father's Day celebrations but by the evening we just got the feeling again she wasn't 100%. So off to our fav priority peds we went...they checked her temp and ears and found nothing but then as soon as they looked in her mouth they noticed it was quite red. Initially the dr thought it was the dreaded hand, foot and mouth virus...but near the end. She did a strep test just to be sure, and sure enough that is what it was! YIKES! poor girl and poor everyone we had Linnea around.
After going to three different Walgreens we found a pharmacy open and got our peanut her medicine. Even though Monday was my first day of summer school I stayed home with her and we had another day of relaxing. She felt well enough to paint some frames which will eventually have some updated family pictures in them! We hope after the 10 days of Amoxicillan she is better...she is still struggling with sleeping tho so we will see...

Mojo Monkey!

Happy Father's Day to some of the best daddies I know!

Linnea is so lucky to have a wonderful daddy who can always make her laugh and smile! I am so lucky to have such a great dad who goes above and beyond for his kids everyday! It has also been fun to watch my brothers become such amazing daddies too. I hope they enjoyed their special day! They certainly deserve it!

We started out Father's Day by sleeping in a tad, me going for walk and daddy and Linnea waking up and hanging out a bit waiting for me to get home. Once I got home we grabbed some money and headed to a somewhat new donut shop in town. It's called Mojo Monkey and it is DELICIOUS! They have some very interesting flavors, one involving bacon and maple! We went with pumpkin/cinnamon donut holes, a smores donut and a strawberry twist. Even though it was quite the wait we are definitely looking forward to going back and trying more new kinds of these special breakfast treats. We took them to a little "park" near my school to have a lil picnic. We then went home and showered up to go eat more at the Green Mill buffet with my mom and dad, brother Brian and his family and his in-laws.
Fun day, until the evening when we took Linnea to the doctor...but that is for the next post...

Happy 4th Bday Peyton and Ella!

Happy 4th Birthday Peyton and Ella!

June 16th was Linnea's first day of her new dance class and we had planned on going to that and then heading right down to Red Wing from the YWCA to celebrate our twin nieces 4th birthdays...however Chris got whatever tummy bug Linnea dealt with on Tuesday so we let him rest and let Linnea nap and thought we would see how we felt when they woke up. Turns out they both felt pretty good so we quick packed up the gifts and food and were on our way!

It was a very fun evening...they saved the pinata for when we got there so the girls had fun with that and also the bubble gifts the girls got.

Ella above.

Linnea above and Peyton below.

It is so fun to see and hear the girls have so much fun together!

We also checked out the chickens and turkeys they have!

Preschool Graduation!

June 15th was a special day at Linnea's preschool...7 of the kids graduated! Many of them will stay through summer and then either start summer school or a different pre-k program It was a very sweet ceremony to see and I hope that we can keep Linnea at A Child's View so she can also have a cute graduation! Here is a little video of the kids singing for their parents and friends and some pictures of the crew.

Linnea and I went and played at a park for a bit with her doll before heading home.

Our Garden!

I'm pretty sure we planted late last year and we did that again this year but at least we did it and hopefully will have plenty of veggies this fall and flowers through summer! Linnea had a great time helping and here is a video of what she believes is in the garden:

What really is there are tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, zucchini, cucumbers and green beans. We contemplated lettuce and carrots but tried carrots last year with no luck and we dont have a great spot for lettuce so maybe another year. I got some wildflower "bombs" as a gift at a baby shower so hopefully those work out! They are little balls that were made to look like peas in a pond and apparently if you throw them in your garden and water them, the wrapper dissolves, the seed spread and you have 3-5 different kinds of flowers in your garden. So we will see how it works out!

Dont worry this post was not just written...we did plant in early June, not late June!
So far the plants are looking great!

Monday with Mommy

Since I have a week between the ending of the school year and the start of summer school I decided to spend 2-3 days with Linnea and 2-3 on my own. We spent Monday morning at Carver playground with a friend of mine and her daughters.

She was telling me there was a bear in there!

We then went to visit GG who is in a transitional care unit since she fractured her ankle last week. We had lunch with her and visited and then got home for a nap. After L's nap we went for a walk before dinner and then storytime at the Roseville Library afterwards. It was a perfect day!
Wish I could be with her FT instead of working FT :(
I did end up spending Tuesday and Wednesday with her as well. Tuesday she had a tummy bug so we cuddled and watched plenty of Dora and Little Bear, played some games on the computer, did some puzzles and drawing and took a 2.5 hour nap together! We got some fresh air and took a walk after supper since she was feeling better.
I decided to keep her with me Wed too just to make sure she was better ;) We checked out the Midtown Global Market on Lake Street which was pretty fun. They have Wee Wednesdays and this morning there was a "cooking show" so we got to sample some breakfast burritos. When we went I thought it was going to be a kids concert but preggo mind looked at the wrong date to get that idea. Oh well, the cooking show was good, we had fun walking around the market and playing in the kids area. We also had some Italian Ice! Yum!

2 Beaches in 2 Days!

This past weekend was a HOT one! We started it out on Friday night with some celebratory ice cream from our local ice cream shop. I say celebratory because it was my last day of work! Well until summer school starts in a week. It only goes 6 weeks though and then I get to be with Linnea for the final month of summer! yay!

Anyways...we proceeded to do summery things on Saturday and Sunday...

Saturday Chris, Linnea and I went to Lake Johanna for some swimming and a picnic. As we were leaving the ice cream truck was there so we of course had to get an ice cream treat again! so fun and perfect!

Saturday night we celebrated a friends bday. Here we are running through her sprinkler, playing in the sandbox and swinging. Linnea gets excited about sprinklers and thinks she wants to run thru but then gets scared and wants me with her. silly girl! She will learn to love them I am sure!

Sunday we found ourselves with another MN cooker so we went to Lake Elmo with my parents, siblings and their kids. So much fun again!

Our little singer...

This has been a favorite song over here lately:

I do believe her preschool is singing it at graduation and that is why we are hearing it so much. I'm pretty excited to go to preschool graduation Friday and hear all the lil voices singing this ;)

Camping Day 3

We slept in a bit later for our last morning at Whitewater State Park, had a similar breakfast as Saturday and then began the packing...blah. I hate packing up, especially after such a fun, short time! Once the car was loaded we headed to the beach area to do a hike, play in the water and have a picnic before heading home.

The first hike we attempted was kind of a major fail...it was steps. LOTS of rock steps. Very high and big. Linnea gave it her best shot and so did I, but me almost 6 months preggers and her with her short lil legs had to turn around. Chuck and Deanna kept going to the top but we found a much more family friendly trail to go on before hitting the beach.
heading up...

heading down...

we tried but there were just too many steps!

so we stopped at the bottom for a picture of us
and some flowers

and the river

and found the perfect gentle family hiking trail!

and took one last family photo before heading to the beach for our picnic and wading/swim time!

The beach was FREEZING but very pretty and full of tadpoles which Linnea thought was pretty cool. We had a Curious George book all about tadpoles and have seen the Curious George episode where he takes care of them until they turn into frogs so Linnea was pretty excited about seeing them in real life.

After about an hour of playing we decided we were getting tired and it was time to head home, and we must've decided that at the perfect time because lil miss who NEVER sleeps in the car, slept for a good hour on the way home I think! She also surprised and slept for about 45 minutes in the car on Saturday!

It was a wonderful trip that we hope we can do every year! Linnea was a great camper...when we weren't hiking or playing she kept herself busy collecting rocks and sticks in her bucket, playing with bubbles, coloring, playing with playdough at the picnic table, finding caterpillars, flowers, leaves, etc.
