Camping Day 2!

We woke up about 7:30 in our tent after a pretty good nights sleep! Linnea did so good sleeping in her Strawberry Shortcake sleeping bag! At some point it did get very chilly and I'm pretty sure we heard either a raccoon or the "neighbor's"dog snoring/breathing quite close to our tent so I pulled Linnea into my sleeping bag where we continued to snuggle and sleep until morning. We are so proud of our 3.5 year old for not waking up to pee in the middle of the night and sleeping through the night in the wilderness! Our day began with breakfast of banana chocolate chip muffins I had made before we left and oatmeal and coffee which Chris boiled water for on our camp stove. We had gotten it for our wedding and finally put it to use. (If any of you who read this gave it to us, Im sorry it took nearly 6 years to use it! We LOVE it!) We used a coffee camp set I took from my grandparents house when they moved out. Everything worked great!

After hanging out at the campsite a bit and getting everyone and everything ready we headed to Winona to spend the rest of the morning at SMU where I went to school. We met up with two other families (The Corey's and the Wallin's, whom each have one family member who also went to SMU) there and went on a wonderful "hike". I use the term hike lightly considering there were 5 kids under age 4 with us! It was so fun be with old college friends and reminisce on our fun we had at SMU. We ran and skied so many miles on the trails we re-explored and shared with our families on Saturday. It is my 10 year reunion this year (that makes me feel quite old) but I won't be going so it was fun to go now!

After our "hike" we went and ate sandwiches at a cute local Winona sub shop and then hit a new playground in Goodview, MN which is a small town right before Winona if you are coming from the cities. It was not there when we went to school but boy were we happy to have come across it now with our kiddoes! The kids played a tad at the park but were mostly interested in the beach! Linnea just went in her undies but that's okay by me if your only 3! No pics sadly because two of our friends went back to SMU to get an actual hike in and happened to have my camera. There may be a few on Chris's camera but of course I don't have those on the computer yet. After we had swam/waded enough we had some lemon bars in honor of one of our friends birthdays and then we headed back to camp.

We first had to stop at a grocery store and get our food for our foil meal. We tried a Hawaiian bake and it was great! Each foil packet had two thick slices of ham, some crushed pineapple, carrots, potatoes and brown sugar! yummy and so easy! The Wallins came back to camp for dinner with us and so the girls could play some more. Sophia and Linnea sure had fun in the tent together. We hope to have a camping trip with them sometime!

After they left we went on a little walk around the campground (mostly to check out the bridge, where we ended up seeing a deer) and had another campfire and munched on chex mix, more smores and some pudgie pies!

We turned in for bed all together again and had another good nights sleep. Well...Linnea and I did...Chris did not sleep so well this time :(
