State Fair 2010

My friend Katie and I went to the State Fair last Wednesday night for a Trampled by Turtles concert! It was so much fun! They are very fun bluegrassy, folk type band. I had never been to one of the free stages before so we thought we would check it out.
We also tried a deep fried cheeseburger followed by Sweet Martha's cookies and milk.
All was delicious but we are happy we shared!
I then went with Linnea and the Wallins on Friday. I am so glad we went with friends. Linnea is a great sidekick and I know we would have enjoyed ourselves but it was nice to have adults with for me and another toddler for Ms. Linnea.

We had to stop at the Current booth and get some pics!

We then made our way to the Baldwin Family Stage for some music by the Okee Dokee Brothers!

The girls were into it but also very cold!
We had gone down the big yellow slide right before the "concert" which was a blast!

After warming up inside the Miracle of Birth building (where we saw about 3 pigs get delivered and realized that Linnea did not enjoy seeing the "wet" piglets) and the DNR building we found Smokey the Bear and sat on his lap for a minute.

Then found moms favorite. The Australian Potatoes. I look forward to these heart attacks all year long! Who knew a deep fried slice of potato dipped in ranch and cheese could be so yummy!

The girls liked their lunch of fair food (potatoes and giant turkey sandwich) in their stroller

but were ready to go see the animals and get a cute hat!

Then we went to Little Farm Hands.
We did this with Linnea last year when she was about 9 months.
This year being 20 months old she got more out of it and really enjoyed it.

The kids get to pretend they are farming. Feed pretend chickens, gather eggs, ride a tractor,

plant a seed and pick a veggie and then bring it to the market to get some "money" and "buy" a treat...Linnea picked Golden Grahams.

We ended our fun day with a malt from the Dairy Barn. I cannot go to the fair and not get this no matter how cold or full I am.
I also tried the fried green tomatoes for something different this year but yuck! We had to throw them out!
Gross to us!

Cant wait for another fun year next year and maybe Chris can come with us!
