Bedtime Struggles

This is a picture of our little girl who has figured out how to sleep through the night in her bed for us again which is lovely.

However it is not lovely that she does not fall asleep until 10pm. And she does that only with us laying right by her bed on the floor. We have tried letting her cry, we have tried checking in on her every 10-15 minutes, we have tried skipping nap, we have tried getting her up early, we have tried earlier in the day naps, shorter naps...it doesn't seem to make a difference. She asks so sweetly if we will be sleep by her until she falls asleep. So for our own sanity we do. It is harder to listen to her scream for an hour or so than to just suck it up and lay by her for an hour.
We will continue to remind her and she will continue to remind herself that if she can go to sleep without us by her for at least 3 nights in a row she will get a day of rides at Como Town...so we will see if that eventually works.
I am told by many friends that this or sleep issues in general are very common and hopefully it is just a stage. Here is to hoping the stage ends before baby number 2 arrives.
We don't mind helping her fall asleep but it sure is hard to not have any Chris and Amy time at the end of the day.

It could be that with a new baby on the way, she's feeling a little anxiety about the change and wanting you to stay close for reassurance. Dylan did the same thing when Jacob was born. Very frustrating. He still likes us to rub his back, but since he doesn't take naps anymore, he's out like a light within 5 minutes. Maybe no nap (or early nap after lunch) and a little back-rub at an earlier bedtime will help speed up the bedtime process!
